A clinical study on MADHUMARDAN conducted at Council of Research in Ayurveda,Seth Tarachand Ramnath Charitable Hospital,Pune (India). Diabetes is painless & non contagious which is, a dangerous life long malady. The incidence of Diabetes Mellitus is consistently growing. During last 10-15 years, the number of such patients has multiplied in all countries. According to W.H.O., Diabetes is currently regarded as a social disease. In India, the National Urban Survey of Diabetes is population based study conducted in the year 2000, showed total prevalness of diabetes to be 13.2%. Insulin secreted by 0-cells of islets of langerhans controls the concentration of glucose in the blood through a number of bio-chemical effects like controlling membrane transport of glucose, its utilization, gluconeogenesis, lipid and protein metabolism, cell replication etc. There are many natural products which help in reducing the Blood Sugar levels without producing hypoglycemic episodes. Thus feeling the necessity of a safe formulation, Sri Sri Jain Ayurvedic pharmacy,Hyderabad, has developed ‘MADHUMARDAN’, which is a boon for diabetic patients. Material & Methods Total 14 patients irrespective of sex, cast, and occupation were selected for the study. Known diabetic patients with sign & symptoms of prameha having Blood Sugar level below 300 mg were included in his study. Patients of the study group were kept on their previous medicines for one month and then they were started the respective protocol. They were observed thoroughly in this period and then MADHUMARDAN was induced to them. The dose was 5 gms of MADHUMARDAN, twice daily before lunch and dinner. Necessary Hematalogical / Urine investigations like Blood Sugar levels and Urine Sugar levels were done for all. No other support of medical value was administered during this period. Action of MADHUMARDAN MADHUMARDAN is a combination of 32 herbs, with Synergistic action on Diabetes Mellitus and complications arising out of it, as it has multifaceted action on digestive system, Cardio Vascular system, Skin, Kindney, Liver Pancreas, Respiratory & Nervous Systems and acts as a also blood purifier.
